From a courageous heart – Courage to be your greatness
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” ― E.E. Cummings
What’s in it for you to be courageous?
A greater accountability for what shows up unexpectedly in your life and ownership of the challenges that arise. Acceptance, without feeling victimized or complaining. You know from within that you will get through what is presented to you. Greater ability to grow inner strength with an unwavering ability to not panic, to not erupt, to not blame others or external circumstances. The ability to be serene, calm and centered through ups and downs. Indeed…being your greatness.

“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” ― Anaïs Nin
We live in complex times. For centuries people have had to be courageous to be authentic, to do the right thing, to be unconventional and to follow their heart to make the impact they knew they had to make and could make.
When I interact with a board of directors, I invite them to think with conscience how they go about making their decisions and to find the courage to do what is right being conscious of the impact and effect of their decisions for all stakeholders. I ask them if they would think, act or decide any differently if their children, grandchildren, mothers and fathers were sitting in the boardroom at the time of their meetings?
COURAGE
What does courage and being courageous mean to you?
Do you espouse courage, and are you an inspiration of courage for others around you in both your personal and business lives?
Do you perceive yourself to be courageous?
Do others view you as an individual who is courageous?
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” ― Winston S. Churchill
Deep within, we have an inexhaustible source of courage. We must not be afraid to tap into it. There are all kinds of courage: physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual/mental, moral, individual and collective. Whatever kind, we must know we have inner courage within us as real fuel to grow, to mature, to lead as role models and to find true fulfillment in our lives through our attitude of being courageous.
It takes courage to be your greatness.
It takes courage to be yourself, authentic and true to who you are.
Think about the times in your life when an outside voice has discouraged you, labeled you, bullied you, diminished you or even abused you when you had to know that none of it was true? To heal and recover from what was said to you and/or of you are not always obvious or conceived to even be possible. With time, it is within your own power to let your own inner voice be stronger reminding you that you have the courage to not assume that you are what was projected on to you and rather identify to who you know yourself to be and to be that, yourself.
“It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.” ― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
Often even good people do things they shouldn’t do. It takes courage to not be swayed, to not be influenced and to stand on our own ground rooted in our values.
It is important to ask the questions, to not assume that life can’t be different and that our leadership can’t be more empowering.
Let me ask you…
Do you have the courage to stand up for what you value the most?
Do you have the courage to excel at what you are naturally good at, to receive all of your talents and to not shy away from your own potential?
